A new women’s fashion boutique at Wayfarers Arcade in Southport is now officially open.

Debbie-Lyn Apparel, which stocks inclusive fashion available in a variety of styles and sizes, is the latest business to move into the iconic Victorian arcade on Lord Street.

Owner Debbie-Lyn Connolly-Lloyd was joined by Southport MP Damien Moore for the red ribbon cutting opening ceremony on Saturday (12th August 2023).

Debbie-Lyn’s Grandma, Helen Connolly, was invited as a VIP guest for the occasion.

The opening ceremony was followed by a special fashion show which featured six of Debbie’s diverse models who were chosen from her Unapologetic Community Group.

The opening coincided with the monthly Craft & Gift Fair at the arcade, which took place on both Saturday and Sunday.

Southport MP Damien Moore said: “I am delighted to have been invited to open this new shop in Wayfarers Arcade in Southport.

“Debbie-Lyn Connolly-Lloyd has worked incredibly hard to establish her unique business.

“Southport is well known throughout the region for its top quality independent shops, with people coming from far and wide to experience what is on offer here.

“I look forward to seeing the success that Debbie-Lyn Apparel will have in the months and years to come.”

Debbie-Lyn Connolly-Lloyd said: “I am really so proud of what we have achieved to open this shop.

“I am very grateful for all the models for showcasing my brands and those of the other independent designers that I stock here in Debbie-Lyn Apparel.”

Debbie-Lyn Connolly-Lloyd won the Sefton Diversity and Inclusion Award at the 2023 Pride Of Sefton Awards in April.

Her new shop in Wayfarers Arcade has been another cause for celebration this year.

She said: “My new shop has been really busy since we opened!

“I have made lots of sales, and more importantly, I have loved giving women some fashion advice to choose their ideal designs to flatter their shape.

“New stock is arriving soon for Autumn, and this will include a selection with non-binary people in mind, so that I can keep working towards more inclusion.

“My Lissa MJY designer leisure wear is on the way and the stock is from a size XS through to 4XL, so there really is something for everyone.”

Debbie-Lyn Apparel offers ‘unapologetic fashion in sizes 8-28’ with lots of unique, colourful items on display, many in collaboration with other local fashion designers and business owners.

Exclusive items on sale include unique hand-painted leather jackets by GoGairy, sportswear by designer Lissa MJY, funky bags by Daisy Amour, Jonah and Lily Sterling Silver Jewellery and more.
