The brand new Rado’s World Tapas restaurant at Ocean Plaza Leisure in Southport is now open!

The stylish eatery offers small plates of delicious food inspired by cuisines from around the globe.

It is a local, independently-owned business and employs 15 local people.

Rado’s has transformed the former Chiquito’s unit, which has been vacant since it closed three years ago.

It opened briefly as a pop-up restaurant during Southport Air Show weekend with a limited menu for visitors attending the event earlier this month, and is now fully open.

Rado’s World Tapas is Southport’s first world tapas bar and restaurant, offering small plates packed with flavour.

There will be lots to entertain guests including an Abba themed night this Saturday (23rd September) with Charley Webster, Boogie Wonderland on Saturday 30th September, a James Bond night on Saturday 7th October and more.

There will be weekly quiz nights every Tuesday with a prize of up to £100 to be won, with the first event on 26th September.

Rado’s World Tapas is owned by local restaurateur Ryan Ali, who previously ran thriving venues in Churchtown (Signature Bistro), as well as in the Lake District and Norfolk.

He moved to Southport two years ago and wants to offer local diners something very new and exciting.

He said: “We are delighted to be open! We think people will enjoy what they can experience in here, both with the menu, and also with the entertainment on offer.

“World tapas is how we describe our food.

“It is an amalgamation of all the most popular dishes I have sold to customers over the last 15 years, and through all of the travelling I have done.

“The popularity of tapas style food has grown massively in recent years. People love it.

“It is not just Spanish food that people can enjoy with it any more, the flavours and tastes now are much more diverse and wife-ranging.

“Being able to open a new restaurant at Ocean Plaza Leisure was a fantastic opportunity.

“It is in a brilliant location, with significant footfall, free parking for a good amount of time, and some other great businesses around us.

“There had been some empty units because of the damage that hospitality businesses suffered during the pandemic three years ago, but it is great to see all the good things happening here now with new businesses opening and Ocean Plaza Leisure becoming a really top quality leisure destination again.

“We are really pleased to be here!

“This is a very exciting time for us now. Now we are open we are going to build on it.

“We will be open from midday until late every day, seven days a week, and will have special themed nights every Saturday. We already have a few booked in, including Abba, Boogie Wonderland, James Bond, Fright Night and more with the brilliant Charley Webster, plus our weekly quizzes.

“We want this to be a really safe and enjoyable space for people to come to, with great food available too, it’s very different from being in a busy club.

“We will be doing rock ‘n’ roll bingo events soon.

“We are looking forward to welcoming people coming in to give us a try.”
