Planning permission has been granted for a stylish new eatery in Southport, creating 10 new local jobs.
The Jack & Gin eatery, bar and cafe is due to open at 137-141 Manchester Road.
It is owned by Robert Baker, a successful local businessman who previously owned The Barking Frog restaurant on the site.
The building was previously occupied by The Imagination Station children’s play centre, which closed last year. Plans by Sainsbury’s to open a new supermarket there were refused by Sefton Council in 2014.
There would be four full time staff at the new venture, with six part time staff.
Work has been taking place at Jack & Gin, getting it ready to welcome customers.
There are 10 car parking spaces at the moment, with a proposal to increase this to 11.
The restaurant would be open between 9am and 11.30pm Monday to Saturday, and between 9am and 11pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Under the plans agreed by Sefton Council, downstairs would benefit from a new disabled toilet. The new kitchen area would be a contained room with glazed fire doors An additional car park space has been laid out.
