A brand new international grill restaurant is opening on Lord Street in Southport this Friday (August 28).

Grill Hunters offers fabulous charcoal meats and more, with diners able to either eat in or enjoy a welcoming drink.

Customers can also enjoy a takeaway option from the counter offering hot and cold European foods.

They have completely reformed the old Pound Bakery premises at 199-201 Lord Street with their own substantial investment.

Owner Emily Zanfir said: “We are a bar and grill restaurant with traditional Romanian dishes as well. We will be open from 10am until 10pm each day.

“What we have different from other grill houses is the flavour on our menu, and as traditional Romanian dishes we have the soup, we do chicken liver, special sausages.

“Tonight, during our soft opening, was a big adventure, but it helped us to identify what we need to improve, and we are very happy with the feedback that we have received.

“We took over the location where the old Pound Bakery used to be on Lord Street.”

Items on the menu include full English breakfast and other breakfasts; platters including Hunter’s mighty mixed grill and Hunter’s pork mixed grill; and traditional dishes such as cabbage rolls with polenta, mashed beans with sausages and chicken liver with polenta.

There is a large choice of grilled beef, chicken, lamb, fish, pork and sausage dishes, while pasta meals include spaghetti carbonara and garlic prawn spaghetti.

Local firm KitchEquip, a Southport business of 28 years which has recently relocated to new premises in Burscough, has helped to convert the premises.

Owner Louise Moir said: “The Grill Hunters owners have completely reformed the premises with their own investment and so would welcome Southport’s town population and beyond to try and support this great place!

“In the difficult times we are in I would hope our town embraces their endeavours and takes a look and enjoys their offerings.

“We have designed and installed the whole place, kitchen, restaurant, furniture, tableware and barware.

“I wish them all the luck in the world. I am just hoping the town and beyond give these hard working people a chance, and try out their hospitality.”
