The brand new Crumbs & Grind Co café has opened on Market Street in Southport today!
The stylish sandwich and coffee shop has opened on the site of the former Market Quarter Tattoo salon, which expanded when it moved into Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street and renamed as Neighbourhood Tattoo.
Crumbs & Grind Co is the newest business to open in the revamped Market Quarter area, which underwent a £6.25 million improvement last year.
The scheme included the pedestrinisation of a section of Market Street which the new cafe is on (at 14 Market Street), which will enable more outdoor seating and more events.
Crumbs & Grind Co is open in time for the busy Southport Artisan Market which will see dozens of artisan craft stalls along Market Street and inside Southport Market this Saturday (4th March 2026).
It is owned by Yasmine Walby-Dyer, from Southport, who has been running a food truck in the town.
It has been so successful that the 31-year-old is now opening hew new cafe.
The mum-of-two said: “Today is the day!
“I honestly can’t believe how fast it’s come around — the nerves and excitement are next level right now
“We are officially open for business!
“The girls have been smashing their coffee training and we are ready for you!
“We’re still ironing out a few bits behind the scenes, so please bear with us. As much as we’d love everything to be perfect from day one, perfection takes time, practice and patience — so please be kind, we really do appreciate every single one of you.
“Get yourselves down… you know you want to.
“I honestly cannot wait to welcome you all in.
“The café is a small, cosy, feel-good space made for catching up, switching off, and, of course… great coffee and even better food. Big butty vibes incoming.
“You’ll be able to sit in or grab your favourites to take away.
“Just a little heads up for our first week – we’ll be keeping things simple with no pre-orders, just to give us (and the new team!) a chance to find our groove.
“We’ll be learning as we go, so there may be a few hiccups along the way… but we promise plenty of smiles, good vibes, and effort poured into every order.
“So please bear with us, be kind, and know that I appreciate every single one of you more than you know.”
Yasmine is delighted to be back in hospitality, having worked at Remedy on Lord Street in Southort when she was 19.
She said: “When I was younger, in my teens, I went into the beauty industry and kind of just stayed in it. I’ve done lots of jobs in it, but I left a spa therapist job in Wigan to do this.
“It was a big risk at the time, but something I’ve always wanted to do.
“I couldn’t imagine doing anything else now. I’m so happy I did what I did and with where I am.”
