Due to high demand, Southport BID has just added two dates for its hugely popular Christmas Carriage Rides.
The new dates are: Sunday, 4th December 2022 and Sunday, 11th December 2022.
People can book here: www.southportbid.com/carriage-ride
The carriage rides are a new feature this year, and are among a whole host of festive fun and entertainment being provided by Southport BID with the aim of encouraging people to do their Christmas shopping in Southport town centre this November and December and to see what local shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and attractions have to offer.
The first ones ran on Saturday – the same day as the Southport BID’s Festive Fun Day – but all initial slots sold out on the first day.
The new attraction proved to be a huge hit, with the first pictures published in the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group on Saturday attracting nearly 450 Likes, being viewed by over 26,000 people and being Shared by over 80 people.
The Christmas Carriage Rides take passengers on an enchanting ride through the town centre on a magical horse and carriage.
Families travel along Lord Street, past the 300,000 lights which adorn both sides of Lord Street under a scheme led by Southport BID last year, as well as past the 18 metre high illuminated Christmas tree in the Town Hall Gardens.
Rides start from The Promenade, next to Scarisbrick Avenue, opposite the Red Rum mural.
The rides run until 23rd December 2022 with a £20 donation for up to 6 people.
Each carriage ride will last for approximately 15 minutes.
The Christmas Carriage Ride is funded by Southport BID and the Southport business community.
All proceeds will be distributed to local charities and organisations Southport Lions Club, Southport Lifeboat and Queenscourt Hospice.
Payments are non-refundable as they are charitable donations.
Southport BID is funding a wide variety of Christmas events and activities this year, with thousands of people enjoying a Festive Fun Day on Saturday.
The BID has provided a sparkling 18 metre high Christmas tree with 25,000 colour-changing LED pixels in the Town Hall Gardens which was installed last week by Southport lighting company IllumiDex UK Ltd.
The BID and IllumiDex have also worked together to provide Christmas decorations on streets throughout Southport town centre, as well as creating the brand new Illustrate Illuminate Christmas decorations trail.
Families can also try the Southport Gingerbread Trail, with the chance to win an iPad.
Booking are also being made for the Christmas Grotto, Frozen Grotto, and the Elf Party.
