A new bar is due to open on Lord Street in Southport town centre.

The Olde Shrimper will welcome customers at 199 Lord Street, in the unit previously occupied by the Grill Hunters Romanian restaurant.

Grill Hunters closed its doors last year.

Work is now underway to bring the building back into use.

Paul Crawford has applied for a Premise Licence.from Sefton Council, seeking opening hours of 10am until 12.30am each day, seven days a week.

It represents further investment on Lord Street this year, which has already seen the Saltrock shop opening, while the new Harry’s and Sky Bar on top of The Grand Southport are due to open on 12th July.

Building work is currently taking place further along Lord Street to open the new George’s Place and a new luxury watch shop, while the former Debenhams building is also being transformed.

Planning permission was recently granted for 109 new hotel rooms, 12 luxury apartments, a gym and spa, a bar and restaurant and a new theatre space at The Garrick, while JD Wetherspoon has just submitted a planning application for a new 30-bed Wetherspoon Hotel.
