A family is celebrating the 25th anniversary of a life-changing road trip which inspired one of the most successful home design companies in the North West.
Diana and Andy Irving were enjoying a meandering coastal road trip just outside Boston, USA, when they stumbled upon a picturesque town called Marblehead.in 1997 and “everything just fell into place”.
They said: “Little did we know that this small seaside town would have such a huge impact on our future.
“The weather was perfect, the people were welcoming and the views were stunning.
“This was a place we’d never been to before and yet we’d never felt so at home. We instantly fell in love with the place and its New England style and architecture.”
Inspired by their vision in the USA, the couple now run Marblehead Home, which creates beautiful homes inside and out with stunning interiors and exteriors.
The company can even extend their service for clients by creating an extension of their home, with eye-catching garden design offering functional outdoor spaces to complete the scheme.
The couple said: “Since those days, our home is in the North-West of England, but in some ways we never left Marblehead.”

We even named our business after the town, as a constant reminder of how beautiful places have the power to transform lives for the better.

The process couldn’t be more simple.
The first thing that happens is they ask all future clients to complete a friendly questionnaire which helps both them and the Marblehead team home in on what they are looking to achieve as an outcome, when they would like to start and what the proposed budget is.
Then they will take a closer look at your ideas, inspiration and needs before getting creative.
There are two options to choose from – firstly the E-Design package which is done for clients who want a faster scheme delivered, are budget conscious and want to be more involved. For a fee they design a room scheme based on the clients’ inspirational images, style, measurements, and photographs. Marblehead provide for the design fee- a concept mood board, 2D layout and a shopping list of where to purchase the items in the design. Giving the client the freedom to choose items to suit their own personal budget. Alternatively on larger schemes or more complex schemes that often involve both building work and sometimes architectural drawings and planning, they offer a bespoke interior design service that supports the client throughout the whole process from start to finish …..even through to the very last cushion plumped up on the sofa.
Diana and her team use their interior design expertise to explore the best ways to create a space that gives you everything you need and more. Marblehead Home will produce personal bespoke design boards,2D and 3D visuals, cost estimates and realistic timescales. Once appointed, Marblehead Home will begin looking at specific and detailed design requirements that might include architectural plans and any necessary planning permission. You’ll also receive detailed costings, a schedule of works and any staged payment plan.
This next exciting step sees the work begin! To minimise disruption, Marblehead Home operates a safe and tidy site. Diana will make regular visits to keep you fully updated and make sure that everything is coming together beautifully.
