May-Lean factory in Liverpool is holding a factory sale

Luxury Laura Ashley products will be on sale for bargain prices at a special factory sale taking place this month.

A range of goods will be on display in specially created showrooms at the May-Lean Factory in Liverpool.

The famous Laura Ashley fashion retailer, which was founded in 1953 and operated over 150 shops, went into administration in March.

Founded in 1953, it had a huge following among customers, who were devastated to see this unique, traditional brand depart the high street after so many years.

Good news for Laura Ashley fans is that they now have the rare chance to get their hands on some of the firm’s unique goods through the May-Lean factory sale.

The sale takes place over five weeks during October and November and is strictly through appointment only, for social distancing reasons.

May-Lean, an established soft furnishings manufacturing company based on Linacre Road in Litherland, had the prestigious job of producing large quantities of Laura Ashley goods over a number of years. The firm currently manufactures soft furnishings for large firms across the UK.

When Laura Ashley went bust, May-Lean was left with stocks of beautiful cushions, fabrics, doorstops, and other goods which are now being sold off at huge discounts.

Lots of measures are being put in place to ensure that people can shop safely.

May-Lean Director Lindsay Tully said: “We are running a factory sale, starting on October 12 between 10am and 3pm each day, but we have to be very careful because of Covid.

“It will be by appointment only for people who do come into the building. Numbers will be limited.

“They won’t go into the factory where people are working. We have showrooms set up upstairs where we are selling off the stock.

“Appointments will be no more than 45 minutes at a time, which will give us time to sterilise the premises before the next customers come in.

“We want to create somewhere where people can come and shop safely.”

As well as Laura Ashley, there will be other brands and goods on sale too, also at bargain prices.

The sale is perfect for anyone who wants to pick up something nice for their home while saving money, or for those who love making beautiful things themselves.

Lindsay said: “We are selling wool by the metre, cushions, throws, draught excluders, door stops, fabric by the roll, lots of lovely things.

“Everyone wants a bargain at the moment, and lots of people have been doing their homes up during lockdown.

“This is the perfect place to come.”
