The search has begun to celebrate people who make a positive impact on their local community here in Sefton.

It’s ahead of the 2025 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards, which takes place at The Grand in Southport on Friday, 25th April 2025.

The Sefton Community Impact Awards category, sponsored by Carlsberg, would love to hear your nomination.

Last year’s Sefton Community Impact Award winners were David and Ann Cobham.

For the past 16 years, after the Botanic Gardens lost their gardeners due to funding cuts, David and Ann have recruited and led a team of volunteers to maintain and improve this historic park.

They revamped the Fernery; reopened the toilets; and at the age of 82 devote their life to making sure this park is a place for all families to enjoy.

A Carlsberg spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Sefton Community Impact Awards at the 2024 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

“We are looking forward to seeing people’s nominations.

“We would love you to tell us – which person or organisation has had the biggest positive impact on their community?

“How have they made Sefton a better place or helped people? Have they used their heart as well as their business head to serve their area?”

Submissions are being sought from Southport, Bootle, Crosby, Formby, Maghull, Aintree, and across the borough.

Celebrated as a Finalist last year were the Southport Saviours.

Southport Saviours saves lives through raising money to install accessible defibrillators in our community, training people to use them.

In February last year they ran the Southport Mad Dog 10k dressed as a Wedding Party, with Richard running in full wedding dress and trainers, a real life Runaway Bride.

Also honoured as a Finalist was Georgina Vernon.

Georgina Vernon started up The Free Clothes Store at Lakeside Church in Southport.

Sourcing donations from members of the public, it provides free clothing to families in our community who are struggling in these challenging times.
