Businesses from the Financial and Professional sector in Sefton got together last week to network and hear presentations from invited speakers

Businesses from the Financial and Professional sector in Sefton got together last week to network and hear presentations from invited speakers.

InvestSefton have been running this networking group for over five years, meeting twice a year in April and October.

Held at Southport & Birkdale Sports Club, the event included presentations from representatives of River Capital Management Ltd, LCR Angel Network and Edge Hill University.

Over 30 business representatives attended for what was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other Financial and Professional sector businesses as well as hearing the presentations.

Open to Sefton’s financial and professional businesses, the Financial and Professional networking group is just one of the regular events organised by Invest Sefton.

InvestSefton is Sefton Council’s service that supports new and existing local businesses and helps attract new investment and job creation across the borough.

The team offers a wide range of services ranging from help with finding a new property to identifying potential sources of funding. They work with businesses of all sizes and sectors and can provide general business advice as well as individually tailored assistance.

As well as the Financial and Professional networking group, InvestSefton also organises ‘Sefton Huddle’ a networking group for digital, creative and tech businesses which meets three times per year. It also coordinates the Sefton Economic Forum which meets twice a year, which is the premier business consultation and networking event in Sefton that gives every business a voice in the Borough’s economic development.

Stuart Barnes, Sefton Council’s Assistant Director of Place covering Economic Growth and Housing said:
“Feedback from this latest event has, once again, been positive with people asking to be invited back to more in the future.

“The objective of InvestSefton is to make our Borough an attractive and easy place for people to start up, run and grow their businesses and setting up networks like this where people can share experiences, knowledge and opportunities, helps to achieve this aim.”

Recently InvestSefton also launched a new business start-up support programme with two events to help budding entrepreneurs explore the possibility of starting their own business. Sefton-based providers Merseyside Expanding Horizons and Safe Regeneration have been commissioned to provide support to Sefton residents who are interested in starting their own business.
