Lee Peltier and Rickie Lambert will be taking part in the Charity Match at Southport Football Club on Sunday 3rd August 2025, 3pm kick-off.

The match, organised by Southport FC and Southport Hesketh Round Table, is being held in honour of 24 families directly affected by the Southport tragedy last summer.

The duo become the first ex-LFC players confirmed to be playing in the Charity Match, with more set to be revealed in due course.

Born in Toxteth, Lee progressed through the youth system at Liverpool FC between 1997-2004, making his professional debut in 2006. Following spells on loan at Hull City and Yeovil Town, he signed for the latter in 2008. Lee had a very successful career in English football, most recently featuring for Rotherham United between 2022-2024.

Similar to Lee, Rickie was a Liverpool local and was in the youth system at LFC between 1992-1997, before signing permanently for Blackpool FC in 1998. Rickie then went on to play for Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers and Southampton, where he stayed between 2009-2014, before returning to Liverpool.

A Southport FC spokesperson said: “We’re pleased to have Lee and Rickie joining us on Sunday 3rd August in our Charity Match, taking place in honour of 24 families directly affected by the tragic events of last year.
