Jollies Barn play centre in Mere Brow in Lancashire

Jollies Barn play centre near Southport is closing next week due to the new Tier 3 Covid restrictions.

The Prime Minister announced today that Lancashire, including West Lancashire, will be subject to the new measures due to rising Coronavirus cases in the area.

These include calls for play centres in Lancashire to close although play centres in Merseyside, which has also gone into the Tier 3 ‘Very high category, are allowed to remain open.

Jollies Barn, on Gravel Lane, Mere Brow, Tarleton, will close its doors on Monday (October 19).

Owners are inviting customers to join them this weekend before they close their doors.

The owners said: “It was announced earlier today that West Lancashire has been moved into Tier 3. The highest of restrictions.

“Of course, we assumed that we would be safe as there are soft play areas within 9 miles of us which are still able to operate in the same position. Unfortunately, this is not the case for us at Jollie’s Barn.

“I write this through teary eyes, but I am truly sorry to announce that as of Monday 19th October, Jollie’s Barn will have to close its doors for a short time following the Government’s guidelines.

“As you can imagine we are all absolutely devastated and in complete shock as we have been given no warning that this was going to happen. We and the team have all been working so hard with the changes since Covid-19 and the feedback we have been getting from the customers has been out of this world.

“To say we and the team are truly heartbroken is an understatement and we feel so let down by this unfair decision. However, we’ve all got to do our part to save lives, keep everyone safe and get rid of this horrid virus.

“To our Jollie’s Team (Family) hold tight, it will not be long until we are racing down that slide again. You are amazing, hard working and extremely loyal and we love you!

“To our wonderful, wonderful customers. Without your encouragement we wouldn’t be here. Your continuous feedback, praise and general support means the absolute world to us and we Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

“One positive point to finish up on – Jollie’s Barn is still open for Saturday and Sunday (both still have some availability).

“Our fridge is filled with fresh yummy stock that needs using (after arriving today) and a whole load of amazing handmade cakes made by the lovely Kate from Baked With Love

“So please show your support by coming, to eat, drink (only soft drinks and coffee mind!)

and be merry! Albeit 2 metres apart of course!

“And lastly… I want to make something very clear.

“This is not the end for Jollie’s Barn.

“This is not goodbye forever. It’s just a goodbye for now.

“Stay safe and we will welcome you back through the doors very soon.

“Love from Laura, Jon, Molly and The Jollie’s Family.”
