Hundreds of people have signed a petition campaigning to save Revitalise Respite Holidays’ Southport location on Change.org

The petition, which was shared through Stand Up For Southport yesterday, has been signed by more than 1,500 people in less than 24 hours, showing the strength of local support for the charity’s Southport centre, which will close down next month following mounting financial difficulties.

Revitalise Respite Holidays, which has been operating for more than 50 years, provides respite breaks and holidays for people with disabilities and their carers.

Laura Hancox, who started the petition, writes: “For myself and countless others living with disabilities, Revitalise Respite Holidays has been nothing short of a lifeline for the past 60 years. This charity provides invaluable respite and short breaks to those of us who desperately need them.”

Elaine Darbin, a supporter of Laura’s petition, adds: “Revitalise Respite Holidays for disabled people is an absolute lifeline for people with disabilities and their families and must be saved.  Life itself for people with disabilities is so hard all the time, and they don’t get a break, so please don’t take this extremely valuable asset away.”

The petition shortlink is Change.org/SaveRevitaliseRespiteHolidays, and you can find more supporter comments here. If possible, please note that this is a Change.org petition so readers know where to find it and learn more.
