Guest House pub celebrates Lancashire Day raising hundreds of pounds for Queenscourt Hospice

Lancashire Night at the Guest House in Southport raised £275 by raffling a hamper of Lancashire goodies.The amount was matched funded by the Big Give so £550 was donated to Queenscourt Hospice by Gail Heyes and the customers of the Guest House.The hamper was won by a Lancashire lad, Ray Baynes, who was present to receive the prize.The best dressed Lancastrians were Ian and Carol Ellis and Johnathan Cliffe roused regional pride when he read the Proclamation.

Revellers enjoyed a reet good night at The Guest House pub in Southport as they celebrated Lancashire Day and raised hundreds of pounds for Queenscourt Hospice. 

Event organiser Jeff Carter said: “Lancashire Night at the Guest House raised £275 by raffling a hamper of Lancashire goodies.

“The amount was match-funded by the Big Give so £550 was donated to Queenscourt Hospice by Gail Heyes and the customers of the Guest House.

“The hamper was won by a Lancashire lad, Ray Baynes, who was present to receive the prize.

“The best dressed Lancastrians were Ian and Carol Ellis and Johnathan Cliffe roused regional pride when he read the Proclamation.”

There was further causes for celebration for the pub, which has been awarded the title of North Merseyside Pub Of The Year. 

The traditional century-old venue, on Union Street in Southport town centre, was given the accolade by Southport and West Lancs CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale). It is famous for its friendly atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and wide selection of top quality real ales. 

Branch Chair Doug Macadam presented the certificate to the pub.
