One of the top radio producers in the UK is aiming to make some noise for Queenscourt Hospice when he takes part in the annual Jail and Bail fundraiser this Friday (7th June 2024).

Alex Toal is the producer at Greatest Hits Radio, part of Bauer Media

The ambitious media professional is currently working on one of Bauer Media’s leading national commercial stations producing both the breakfast show and evening show with Jackie Brambles.

He will be among 12 kind-hearted ‘inmates’ who will be ‘charged’ with a variety of crime before standing ‘trial’ at the former Southport Magistrates Court (now Access Point) in Southport as they bid to raise £999 in ‘bail’ money – with every penny raised going to Queenscourt Hospice.

Alex is facing a ‘crime’ of being a ‘Serial Spritzer’.

This notorious DJ and radio producer’s love for Aperol Spritz knows no bounds.

With a penchant for mixing beats and cocktails in equal measure, this effervescent character has earned his moniker through legendary exploits of sipping and spinning tunes while indulging in one too many Aperol Spritzes.

From his signature cheeky grin to his penchant for leaving behind a trail of cocktail umbrellas, The Serial Spritzer is a colourful figure in both the world of radio and the cocktail scene.

But beware, for where there’s a spritz, there’s bound to be a splash of mischief close behind!

Alex is based in Liverpool and has a longstanding theatrical background, in technical and artistic production as well as performing.

He is well known for going the extra mile in his work, regularly delivering creative content, new show ideas and striving to challenge the status quo.

Recent specialist projects include an in-depth conversation hour with Fleur East and Elton John.

Every penny raised through Jail & Bail will go towards Queenscourt Hospice, which provides care and support for residents across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby, 365 days a year.

Queenscourt is staging this fundraiser in collaboration with Stand Up For Southport 10am-3pm on Friday, 7th June 2024 at Access Point, based inside the former Southport Magistrates’ Court building, on Albert Road in Southport.

A handful of other local ‘criminals’ have already had their collars felt – organisers are looking forward to bringing them together in June as a ‘chain gang’.

Several local businesses are supporting the initiative on the day.

Queenscourt Hospice Fundraising Manager Liz Hartley said:

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Andrew and the Stand Up For Southport team for this year’s Jail and Bail event. This quirky event isn’t just about fun and entertainment—it’s a testament to our community’s generosity and spirit. Together, our ‘inmates’ are raising vital funds to help us to provide compassionate care to those who need us most. We’re looking forward to laughter, camaraderie, and making a real difference where it counts.”

Stand up For Southport Director Andrew Brown said:

“We are honoured to team up with Queenscourt Hospice to launch the second Jail & Bail fundraiser!

“It’s going to be a really fun way of raising money for an incredible local charity that holds a very special place in the hearts of so many of us.”

Queenscourt Hospice provides access to specialist palliative care either at home (including care homes), hospital or in Queenscourt via the Inpatient Unit or as an Outpatient.
