A woman who set up an initiative providing free clothing to families in need has been celebrated for her work at the 2024 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

Georgina Vernon set up The Free Clothes Store, a charitable ministry at The Lakeside Church in Southport.

Donations can be dropped off at Lakeside Church reception Tuesdays to Fridays 9am-4pm.

The Free Clothes Store offers free, great quality, second hand clothing and shoes to anyone who is struggling and in need of some help in the Southport area.

The initiative is totally supported by free donations.  .

Margaret Biggs, among the people who nominated Georgina, said: “It is based in one of the now disused squash courts at Lakeside Church.  It’s HUGE.  What a facility.

“What a wonderful service to our community especially in these hard times.

“Many families are so grateful.

“It’s not a food bank as such. But it does the same differently!  And it’s all free.”
