Elaine Whitlock's family and friends are doing a fundraising walk for Elsie's Story from Ainsdale to Hightown

A group of friends are taking part in a 10-mile walk along the beach from Southport this weekend to raise money for Elsie’s Story.

Elaine Whitlock will be trekking from Ainsdale to Highton this Sunday (6th July 2025) keen to raise as much money as they can for the charity.

Some people have travelled from the other side of the world to take part.

Elaine Whitlock said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you so far to everyone who has kindly sponsored us so far! Please share our link if you can.

“Following the unimaginably tragic events in Southport last year, I wanted to show my support by raising some money for Elsie’s charity in a relevant way.

“I grew up in Southport and as a little girl, not much older than Elsie, I took part in a 10 mile sponsored walk along the beach, with my school friends.

“I have decided to do the walk again, in Elsie’s memory, 48 years later, with my brilliant family and friends, some of whom have travelled as far as Australia!”

Elsie’s Story was set up last year “to turn heartbreak into hope, bringing joy to other children”.

The charity was founded by her family to make grants in Elsie’s name, supporting young people and helping children in the community.
