An invitation has been made to Sefton-based construction businesses to work on a new housing development in Netherton with Barnfield Construction and Sandway Homes.
InvestSefton is hosting a Meet The Buyer event on Thursday, 20th October 2022 with all welcome.
The morning starts at 9.30am-10am with Tea / Coffee and Registration.
This is followed 10am-12pm with the Meet The Buyer event which includes an ‘Ask the Buyer’ session and the opportunity for 1:1 conversations.
It takes place at Southport and Birkdale Sports Club Trafalgar Road Birkdale PR8 2HF.
The date is ideal for contractors, including sole traders, from the construction sector who are able to offer some of the trades listed below (this list is not exhaustive):
- Groundworks
- bricklayers (labour only)
- uPVC windows & external doors
- roofing and rainwater goods.
- joinery (labour only doors, frames, skirtings, stairs, and balustrades)
- Plastering
- Painting
- Kitchens
- tiling (labour only)
- Plumbing / mechanical
- Electrical
- Fencing / gates
- tarmacking.
- suppliers – building materials, stone / aggregate, in situ concrete.

This event will give Sefton-based businesses, suppliers, smaller contractors, and sole traders the chance to learn about forthcoming contract opportunities arising from Sandway Homes and Barnfield Construction Phase 1 build programme.
Sandway Homes has commissioned Barnfield Construction to work across three sites, comprising 141 homes, two in Southport and one in Netherton.
The first two sites in Ainsdale and Crossens are nearing completion, and the third site (63 units) is in Netherton and is due to start in 2023.
Barnfield is actively looking to expand its supply chain and work more closely with Sefton businesses.
Sub-contractors must be able to demonstrate a proven history of quality workmanship and have the necessary capabilities and H&S accreditations (where relevant).
They must also be familiar with working under a JCT sub-contract order with retention and defect rectification periods.
The Meet the Buyer Programme will include:
- Information on both sites, and works, timescale
- How Barnfield chooses its suppliers
- Pre-approval process
- Q & A with Barnfield Construction and Sandway Homes
- Networking
- Free support available from InvestSefton and Sefton@Work, including tendering support and staff recruitment
