The first ever Southport Beer Week is bursting into life this May with four days of real ale trails, unique events, live music – and lots of reasons to explore Southport.

The town-wide beer festival is here from Thursday 22nd May 2025 to Sunday 25th May 2025 as a superb celebration of real ale and great beer hosted by 20 different pubs and bars around Southport town centre.

Here are FIVE reasons you won’t want to miss Southport Beer Week:

1 – Southport Beer Week Ale Trail

There are fabulous prizes to win plus the opportunity to explore some new venues with the Ale Trail!

From this weekend, you will be able to pick up Ale Trail booklets at participating venues.

Across the four days of the Festival, take your booklet into seven pubs or bars on the list, enjoy a beer and get your booklet stamped, and you could win a £250 voucher to spend in a Southport town centre venue of your choice.

There are some great runner-up prizes too, including beers from local breweries, and other goodies provided by local businesses.

There are 20 venues to explore so you can mix between your favourites while also discovering some new venues!

2 – Over 80 Beers To Try

With 20 venues taking part in Southport Beer Week and over 80 different beers to try, you will be spoiled for choice!

You can learn more about the beers on offer too, with some special events taking place.

Tap & Bottles will be hosting a number of activities including a meet the brewer with Bootle-based Colbier on Thursday evening, and a Rivington Brewery tap takeover on Saturday.

The Masons Arms will be showcasing beers from the renowned Titanic Brewery across the four days.

The Sir Henry Segrave pub will be hosting a Dark v Light Mini Beer Festival with a choice of four specially introduced dark beers and four light beers.

Southport Brewery has brewed a special Southport Beer Week Bitter, which we know people can’t wait to try.

3 – Special Events

Look out for some great Southport Beer Week events being hosted by individual venues.

On the evening of Thursday 22nd May 2025 The Guest House will host a beer themed traditional pub quiz.

On Saturday 24th May 2025 local historian David Walshe will lead a sold out ‘Lost & Old Pubs of Southport’ guided walk.

That day will also see The Windmill pub invite people to an outdoor BBQ, while The Fool hosts a Brewtopia event.

Keep an eye on the Your Southport social media pages and the Southport BID website for more details.

4 – Discover New Pubs and Bars

We all have our favourite pubs and bars in Southport; but Beer Week will be the perfect time to explore some hidden gems that you may not have visited before.

Bold Street for example has become a vibrant and friendly location for visitors with a variety of bars to choose from.

On Saturday evening 24th May 2025 and all day on Sunday 25th May 2025 Kokomo and The Grazing Lounge will be cooking up some delicious street food.

The Engine Room, inside Wayfarers Arcade, will have beers by Neptune Brewery on the taps.

How many new venues will be on your list of places to visit?

5 – Live Music

Southport Beer Week

Southport has some great live music venues, and there will be lots to savour during Beer Week.

The Masons Arms will be hosting live music for the first time.

The Fool, Kokomo, Punch Tarmeys, Southport Coaster and more will all have musicians performing for customers, along with all the usual live music venues around town.

Southport BID is working alongside Southport Pubwatch members and town centre venues to make Southport Beer Week happen.

Original artwork for the event has been designed by local artist ‘Ruthie Illustrations’ (Ruth Ryder).
