A group of friends and family taking part in a 10 mile walk along the Sefton coast have raised over £5,000 for Elsie’s Story.
Elaine Whitlock led the trek from Ainsdale to Hightown on Sunday (6th July 2025) keen to raise as much money as they could for this amazing charity.
Elaine said: “We successfully completed the walk – with 26 of us – and so far peoples’ generosity means we have raised in excess of £5,200 for Elsie’s Story.

“The Hightown Pub should also get a mention, as Callum there gave all the thirsty walkers a very welcome drink on arrival!”
Some people have travelled from the other side of the world to take part.

Elaine said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you so far to everyone who has kindly sponsored us so far! Please share our link if you can.
“Following the unimaginably tragic events in Southport last year, I wanted to show my support by raising some money for Elsie’s charity in a relevant way.

“I grew up in Southport and as a little girl, not much older than Elsie, I took part in a 10 mile sponsored walk along the beach, with my school friends.
“I decided to do the walk again, in Elsie’s memory, 48 years later, with my brilliant family and friends, some of whom have travelled as far as Australia!”
Elsie’s Story was set up last year “to turn heartbreak into hope, bringing joy to other children”.

The charity was founded by her family to make grants in Elsie’s name, supporting young people and helping children in the community.
