Eva’s Sewing Room in Southport town centre has celebrated its first birthday!

The independent local business, which provides sewing services and alterations for customers, opened at 22 King Street, close to Southport Market.

It is part of the growing Market Quarter which has seen a number of independent businesses opening on King Street and Market Street since the £1.4 million transformation of Southport Market into a thriving new food, drink and events venue.

Eva’s Sewing Room is owned by expert seamstress Eva Kubicka, who opened her first shop after gaining a large army of customers and followers through Facebook and through word of mouth.

The services she provides at Eva’s Sewing Room include: women’s, men’s and children’s alterations; wedding and prom dress alterations; curtains and cushions made; all at reasonable prices.

She is looking forward to a busy prom season in Southport this Spring.

Eva said: “Eva’s Sewing Room is celebrating our first anniversary!

“I would like to thank you for choosing my service throughout our first year in Southport.

“It means a lot to me, running my small business. I make alterations for clothes, wedding dresses, prom dresses, I make cushions, curtains, zips for clothes, all sorts of alterations.

“It has good for my customers that they can actually come and see me in my shop now as well as speaking to me online.

“I am not expensive for the services which I provide, I don’t charge a fortune like some other businesses, customers are happy with what I am charging.

“I have professional machinery here with me, and my own fabrics.

“I have been lucky to have so many wonderful regular customers, and have attracted lots of new ones over the last few months.

“I am very grateful for the support I have had since we first opened.

“I have been a seamstress for many years, but I am learning new skills all the time. If someone gives me a new challenge then I always enjoy doing it! I learn something new every day.

“Being situated in Southport’s Market Quarter, in Southport town centre, is perfect. It is lovely to see people walking past and then stopping to call in. I am always happy to chat with anyone and answer any questions they may have.”

There are more big changes planned for the Southport Market Quarter this year.

Market Street is due to be pedestrianised, while work will take place to increase the size of the pavements on King Street and make the road one-way.

More new investment is coming in with German Doner Kebab due to transform the former McDonald’s building, with the former Coronation pub due to be converted too.

They add to the new independent businesses which have opened in recent months including: Season Coffee, Bar and Kitchen; The Cake Box; Eva’s Sewing Room, and others.

Eva said: “It will be looking really nice in this area soon. The changes are going to bring even more people into the Market Quarter.

“It has been a really good first year for me, in a really good location.

“I am looking forward to the future.”
