Liam Birks returned to Southport College for a rather noble cause; donating his long, flowing locks to the Little Princess Trust, whilst raising money for them in the process.
Former Engineering student Liam was sponsored by all his friends and family to donate his hair and the money he raised to The Little Princess Trust.
This wonderful charity will turn Liam’s locks into a real-hair wig, free of charge, for a child or young person who has lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
Since 2006, they have provided more than 8,000 wigs and have given grants totaling more than £7 million towards research projects focused on finding more effective treatments for childhood cancers.
It is people like Liam who are kind enough to donate their hair and fundraise that make all this possible.
He has raised £200 which is a fantastic achievement.
His hair was cut and restyled in the Southport College Concept Salon, by Sadie, one of the College’s hairdressing lecturers and it is now on its way to change someone’s world.

Liam was very grateful to College.
He said: “I’d really like to thank Southport College for helping me to donate my hair.
“Doing this is important to me as I know how much it will mean to someone suffering from hair loss through cancer.
“I was inspired to do this because a family friend has been through it and I know how much of a difference to their life a hair-piece made.

“I’d been growing my hair for years and when I found out about the Little Princesses, I just knew it was exactly what I wanted to do.
“I’m really happy with my new hair style, it will take a bit of getting used to but I’m already thinking about growing it back and donating it again!”
A Southport Coll;ege spokesperson said: “We are very proud of Liam and his donations to a charity our Concept Salons have also held fundraising events for in the past.
“Our hair and beauty team are planning to run more events in the future and find more hair donors.”
