The winners have been revealed for the 2021 British Musical Fireworks Championship!
Dragon Fireworks Ltd, which was the first company to perform on Saturday night, was crowned this year’s winner after a superb three nights of pyrotechnics at Victoria Park in Southport.
In second place this year was Sonic Fireworks & Events, which was the second to perform on Sunday night, while in third place was Star Fireworks, which was the first to perform on Sunday night.
Huge crowds enjoyed the return of the musical fireworks to Southport, with Saturday night a sell-out, after the event was postponed last year due to the Covid pandemic.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council’s tourism team, which organised the event, said: “Well done to all of our competitors and firework companies who gave us fantastic exhibition displays!
“It’s good to be back!”
Spectators spoke about how much they enjoyed the event on the British Musical Fireworks Championship Facebook page.
Alan Taylor, from the SUP North paddle boarding group, took some stunning pictures of the displays as members stood on their paddle boards in the Marine Lake!
He said: “Eight years of watching the fireworks from our paddle boards and this year was the best so far, thank you Southport!”

Curtis Richards said: “Really good event for the money, definitely be coming next year. It’s worth the trip from Yorkshire. I would recommend this to anybody.”
Alison Chapiln said: “Absolutely spot on. On my home-made scorecard, Dragon came first and Sonic second! Absolutely brilliant weekend and well done to all participants.”
Carol Shanks said: “Dragon are worthy winners but all in all we have had a fantastic weekend of entertainment from all participants! Thank you all so much. We can’t wait to book for next year!”
Guy Watson said: “Dragon deserved to win, better music choice.”
Richard Caswell said: “Definitely think Star and Sonic were definitely the ones it would have been between to win, we have been here all weekend and by far they where the best I would say, Dragon were good but Sonic and Star hit it out of the park no doubt! The finales from Sonic and Star! One word – phenomenal!”

Jackie Triscott said: “We were blown away by Dragon Fireworks, so pleased they won.”
Leanda Williams said: “We saw Star Fireworks and thought they were the best we’ve ever seen. Absolutely stunning fireworks display. Hopefully we will get to see Dragon next year!”
Helen Graily said: “Dragon really deserved to win this. I preferred their style, timings and music choice. I think everyone put on a fantastic display so well done to all.”
Matthew Quince said: “I’m very shocked. I went every night and I expected Star Fireworks to win, in my opinion it was very close between Star and Sonic. Dragon Fireworks were great! Just in my opinion not as good as the two. At the end of the day, it’s the judges’ choice. Every display was good!”
Steven Hitchon said: “Saturday night’s performance by Dragon fireworks was world class.. a fantastic performance .”
