Local solicitor, Mike Prendergast of Dickinson Parker Hill Solicitors, has recently presented a cheque for £5,495 to Freshfields Animal Rescue following Charity Will Month last November.
Each year, Mike Prendergast and his colleagues hold a Charity Will Month to support local charities and good causes and this year Freshfields was selected as one of the local charities to benefit.
Since 2009, the Dickinson Parker Hill Charity Will Month has helped raise over £127,000.
Clients from across Southport, Ormskirk and throughout Lancashire and Merseyside have benefitted from being able to put in place Wills to ensure their affairs are in order.
Mike Prendergast said: “The last few months have been very difficult for so many people and we have all had to adapt so many aspects of our lives.
“We were very happy to help Freshfields as we know so many people care about their animals and in recent times have relied on them even more for companionship and comfort.”
The pandemic has hit the finances of many charities hard, with estimates suggesting that charitable incomes have fallen from anywhere between 24%-48%.
Helen Stanbury from Freshfields Animal Rescue said: “Everyone at Freshfields is incredibly grateful for the compassion and continued support of Dickinson Parker Hill for the abused, abandoned and unwanted animals at Freshfields.
“They genuinely care about making a difference in their local community. They have an integrity which should be applauded.
“The funds raised in Wills Month will go towards our rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming work and is greatly appreciated in these difficult times.
“On behalf of the animals, a huge Thank You from everyone at Freshfields Animal Rescue.”
During a busy November, staff at the firm, Michael Prendergast, Allison McCormick, Leanne Reeman and Carole Connell saw over 200 clients between them, with appointments carried out remotely. They were ably assisted by Pauline Winrow, Dawn Joyce and Lyndsay Burns in preparing the wills.
Mike Prendergast said: “Charity Will Month has proved to be very popular even during these difficult times.
“We would like to thank all those who took part and all of our fantastic staff who helped make this possible.”
