A manager of a clothing shop in Southport town centre is taking on a big challenge to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
Emma Woodall, who manages Lakeland Leather on Lord Street, is taking part in a sponsored skydive this September.
She has a target of raising £500 for the charity and hopes her fundraising will be a display of appreciation to Alder Hey for everything they did to save lives following the tragic incident in Southport on 29th July in which three young girls were killed and several other children and adults were badly injured during a knife attack.
Emma said: “Witnessing the incredible unity of the Southport community in response to this tragedy has ignited a determination within me to take action.
“The recent events in Southport have shed light on the remarkable work of the hospital, and I’ve been profoundly moved by the courage and resilience of the children at Alder Hey.”
Emma has already raised £380 ahead of her skydive which she will do on 21st September 2024.
As manager of Lakeland Leather on Lord Street, the road which has seen hundreds of floral tributes and memorials for Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe, Emma is committed to ‘do her part and assist those in need’.
As a business, Emma and her team have already shown their support by wearing pink clothing at work as a mark of respect and solidarity.
Emma has set up a GoFundMe page where people can donate to the cause.
She said: “Your contribution will truly make a difference in their lives. Please join me in supporting this important cause.
“The Southport community has rallied together to raise funds for emergency services and affected families, and I am committed to doing my part to assist those in need.”
At the start of August Alder Hey Children’s Hospital discharged all of its patients from the knife attack in Southport.
Three young girls – Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe – were tragically killed in the attack. A further two adults and eight children were injured, having suffered stab wounds. Of those, five children were in critical condition.
