Two local venues have temporarily closed after positive Covid-19 tests were discovered in their premises.
The Allotment, in Birkdale Village in Southport, and the Legh Arms, at Mere Brow, both announced they were shutting their doors for the next few days as a safety precaution.
In a statement posted earlier today, The Allotment said: “It is with a heavy heart that we are forced to announce the closure of our beautiful Allotment until further notice, due to a confirmed case of Covid-19 on the premises last week.
“The health and safety of all our staff and customers will always come first and we take all the government guidelines very seriously.
“We are in contact with track and trace and are taking all the appropriate steps.
“Thank you so much to all our amazing customers, your support means the world to us.”
The Legh Arms said: “It is with a very heavy heart and after discussion with relevant Government bodies that we have voluntarily taken the decision to close our doors until Thursday 15 October.
“We were informed that a member of our team has sadly tested positive to Coronavirus to whom we have provided our full support and send very best wishes for a speedy recovery.
“As always at The Legh Arms the safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers is at the forefront of everything we do, that said, we decided that temporary closure was our only option.
“We are working tirelessly to contact all relevant customers who have visited us and are following official Government Track and Trace advice and guidance.
“During this time of closure we will be taking time to carry out a thorough deep clean of the whole premises so that you will feel safe and protected when we reopen nour doors and warmly welcome you back.
“On behalf of ourselves and The Leg Arms team can we take this opportunity to thank you, our customers, for your understanding, support and kindness during these very difficult times and that you and your families stay safe and well.”
