Andrew Lancel

Coronation Street and The Bill star Andrew Lancel will star in a special fundraising night to raise funds for an historic church in Lancashire. 

Andrew, who was born in Rufford in West Lancashire, will appear at a Gala Dinner to help raise money towards the third of a million pounds needed to restore the spire at the Church of St Mary The Virgin in Rufford. 

People are invited to book tickets for the Gala Dinner at the Rufford Arms on Thursday 30th November  2023. 

Records show that the church building existed in 1346, being rebuilt in 1734 and 1869.

Andrew Lancel is an award-winning television and theatre actor, producer and director. He is best known for his appearance as Dr Andrew Collin in Cardiac Arrest, his role as DI Neil Manson in The Bill and Frank Foster in the long-running ITV soap opera Coronation Street, as well as his acclaimed portrayal of Brian Epstein in the stage play Epstein – The Man Who Made The Beatles. He is currently starring in Unforgotten on ITV.

He said: “As part of the fundraising campaign to raise a third of  a million pounds to repair St Mary’s Rufford’s Spire and make the church fit for present day needs we are holding a Gala Dinner at the Rufford Arms on Thursday 30th November, 7pm for 7.30pm.”
Diners will be able to spend an evening with, and hear from Andrew Lancel. 

He will share stories of his time growing up in Lancashire and his time on stage and screen.
The tickets cost £35 each and include a three course dinner and coffee. 

The event is organised in collaboration with The Rufford Arms.
Father Mark said: “I am grateful to Andrew for offering to support our Appeal in this way. 

“I look forward  to welcoming back one of Rufford’s famous sons. 

“It is also great to collaborate with the Rufford Arms on this venture,  as I know first hand how good their food is.”
