The Cooper’s Talent Competition saw acts perform to a panel of judges from November in weekly heats which culminated in a Grand Final on Thursday (11th December 2025).
Cooper’s, a popular Southport’s live music venue which celebrated its sixth year of business in October, regularly promotes new and aspiring musicians through their well established Open Mic, Acoustic and Jam nights.
The talent contest saw a massive variety of entries from as far as Blackpool all perform to win the £500 cash prize.
The finalists, judged by a panel which included Babs Arthur, Pete Rimmer and Claire Kelly featured ‘Awk The Clown’ an original classic resort comedy act, Mia Ward, a stunning 15 year old aspiring West End Vocalist, The Collins band and the winner Ethan, a nine year old drummer.
Ethan wowed judges and audiences alike with his incredible showmanship, timing and power, even perfecting his act in the final by singing whilst playing the drums.
All of the acts throughout the competition proved to the different weekly judging panels that there is an enormous amount of talent in the town and the competition drew talent from surrounding areas.
The success of Cooper’s bar, family owned by Spud, Ella and Yvette Cooper will see the business grow in 2026 as they team up with Tides Out Studios owners to develop an Arts Centre in the old Warehouse building on West Street, giving further opportunities for musicians and the arts to perform and more places to see them! This will be a welcome addition to Southport.
