Central 12 retail park on Derby Road in Southport including the vacant Unit 11 to the left of the picture (next to Costa Coffee)

Visitors to Southport’s M Park Central 12 now enjoy a welcomed boost to their cost of living, thanks to the provision of up to two hours of complimentary parking at the retail park.

This marks the first instance of free parking since the park’s construction 20 years ago.

Commencing this week (Monday 8th April), patrons of the shopping park located on Derby Road can avail themselves of the 600-space car park without charge for a duration of up to two hours. Extended stays are accommodated through convenient payment methods including card transactions, mobile payments, or via an app.

This initiative is part of a series of enhancements introduced by the new owners, LCP, part of M Core, who have assumed management of the car park from Sefton Council. The previous pay and display system has been replaced, ensuring easier access for visitors.

Barry Flint, Director at LCP, said:

“We are committed to ensuring that M Park Central 12 remains accessible to all members of the community. Recognising that parking fees can pose a challenge for many; we are delighted to provide this support to enhance the overall experience for our residents.”

The shopping centre boasts a diverse range of stores including Poundland, Mountain Warehouse, Boots, Next, B&M, Costa, Asda, and the Range, with the recent addition of Cassia, contributing to the variety available to the local community.

Plans are also underway to create a new McDonald’s restaurant and takeaway.
