A Southport cake business loved by customers including Hollywood star Will Ferrell is enjoying its second birthday!

Cake Corner opened its first shop in Hillside in July 2011 before opening additional outlets in Southport Market and in Ormskirk.

You’ll also see the Cake Corner team at popular local outdoor events such as Southport Food and Drink Festival and the Ainsdale Summer Show.

Earlier this year the shop made national headlines when Will Ferrell, star of movies including Elof, Anchorman and Blades of Glory, was impressed by Cake Corner’s millionaire shortbread.

To celebrate the two year anniversary, Cake Corner is doing a Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer in its HIllside shop only this week.

Owner and self-taught baker Leanne Prescott said: “Wow what an amazing first two years for our shop!

“To celebrate we will be doing a special offer in our Hillside shop only.

“When we opened our first shop in 2021 I could never have dreamed we would be in the position we are today.

“We have grown so much as a business and as a team over the past few years and hope to continue expanding in the coming years.

“Since opening our hillside shop we have now added a stal at Southport Market and a shop at Ormskirk Market.

“I can’t express how grateful I am for every customer who has supported us along the way.

“We have big plans for the future of Cake Corner!

“Lastly I want to thank all of my amazing staff members it would be impossible without you all.”

Leanne began her venture in 2016 before going on to open her three venues.

One of her highlights was when one of her customers gave a Cake Corner millionaire shortbread to Will Ferrell in February at a Liverpool Football Club match, and then called in to show Leanne the picture.

Leanne said at the time: “I couldn’t believe it. The customer came in and he works for the Premier League. He showed me the picture and I just screamed the shop down, we had customers in as well.

“He comes in quite a bit and jokes that he uses our cakes to get people into his meetings. At first, I thought he was going to show me a photo of an ex-player at Anfield but I couldn’t believe it when it was Will Ferrell. I would never dream of it happening.”

Leanne opened her first Cake Corner venture at Crown Buildings in Hillside, opposite The Crown pub, in July 2021.

She followed that by opening her new Cake Corner stall inside Southport Market in November 2021, just in time for Christmas.

Her venture has proved to be so popular that she then moved into new larger premises in the landmark site, which allows her to offer even more tasty treats to customers, before opening at Ormskirk Market.
