Due to the current weather conditions, Ainsdale Beach car park will remain closed today (Saturday August 22).

A Sefton Council spokesperson said: “Current weather conditions mean that tide heights of greater than 9.75m are predicted and we anticipate that this will be within the small parking area.

“Wind and air pressure conditions will increase the tide height and therefore the threat.

“If people were to stay on the beach late into the night tonight, they and their vehicles would be at significant risk from these tides.

“We will therefore be keeping the beach closed today to eliminate the risk of damage to vehicles on the beach car park from these high tides.”
