A talented self-taught Southport baker has seen her empire rising after opening an expanded unit inside Southport Market!
Leanne Prescott opened her first Cake Corner venture at Crown Buildings in Hillside, opposite The Crown pub, in July last year.
She followed that by opening her new Cake Corner stall inside Southport Market in November last year, just in time for Christmas.
Her venture has proved to be so popular that she has just moved into new larger premises in the landmark site, which allows her to offer even more tasty treats to customers.
Leanne said: “We have now opened our new stall at Southport Market!
“As we are now in a bigger stall, we have decided to offer a large range of desserts, from freshly made waffles to our usual delicious cakes!
“Thank you to my amazing staff for helping me out, I couldn’t do it without you all!
“Come and see us.
“Keep your eyes peeled as we soon will be revealing our other new location! It’s been a crazy few weeks here at Cake Corner.”

A Southport Market spokesperson said: “Cake Corner is now bigger and better at unit 5.
“Leanne has opened her bigger counter in the Market, offering a large selection of warm desserts, gelato ice cream and not forgetting the famous cake cabinet .
“She is doing amazing and we love having her here as part of the team. Well done to the Cake Corner team.”
Cake Corner’s expansion has been warmly welcomed by her customers.

The opening of Southport Market has sparked a resurgence of Southport Market Quarter, with new independent local businesses opening including: Season Coffee, Bar & Kitchen; The Cake Box; and Eva’s Sewing Room.
Plans are underway to redevelop the former Coronation pub on King Street while German Doner Kebab is due to move into the former McDonald’s building on the corner of King Street and Market Street. town centre, so
They joined some superb established Market Quarter favourites including Bernadette’s, Quicksilver Music, Vanilla Nova Cake Boutique, Market Blinds, Market Quarter Tattoo and others.
In 2023 Sefton Council will carry out plans to improve the area still further, with part of Market Street pedestrianised to allow more outdoor seating and outdoor events, plus wider pavements and a one-way traffic system on King Street.
Cake Corner is the first venture by self-taught baker Leanne Prescott andtown is already proving to be a huge success with local people.
People can sit in and enjoy a selection of cakes and a hot or cold drink, they can enjoy a takeaway, or they can order cakes for birthdays and special events.
