People are invited to the Botanic Christmas Fair today (Sunday 20th November 2022).
The event is free to attend and takes place between 11am and 4pm at the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown in Southport.
Families can enjoy a host of festive fun including: Christmas carols, Snow Dome, donkey rides, iZorbs, face painting, brass bands, dance performances, crafts, Christmas gifts, and music from Sandgrounder Radio.
Visitors will be able to pick up Christmas presents from a variety of stalls present, which will be run by local businesses.
Santa’s Grotto will be taking place inside the Fernery but is already fully booked.
The Christmas Fair aims to raise funds for the Botanic Gardens Community Association, whose volunteers lead the day to day maintenance of the historic Victoria era park.
They are being supported by campaigners from Make A Change For Botanic, which has raised funds to improve the park, including the two new water aeration fountains.
The event will also see Sefton Council launch its consultation into the future of the park, with people encouraged to take part.

An event spokesperson said: “Make A Change For Botanic, Botanic Gardens Community Association and Sefton Council are delighted to work together to bring the improvements to the park.
“A gentleman called Gerallt from Oakham Research is coming along to commence a survey with the public using our event as a springboard to speak to everyone.
“This is our chance! An opportunity to have a voice – to share our shared views on the park and what’s needed. It’s what we’ve been waiting for.
“This is for our kids, they deserve better, they deserve a park that’s beautiful and free to roam and enjoy in their future.
“We can’t keep asking you all to give and give money, especially in this current crisis – but giving your view and your voice is free.
“Please come and make your voice heard! This is important.
“This really is our time to Make A Change.”
