A Birkdale business owner is braving herself to trek up the highest mountain in Wales in the dark – to raise funds for Queenscourt Hospice.
Sally Bee, the owner of Sally Bee Lifestyle in Birkdale Village in Southport, is taking on the Snowdon At Night Challenge on Saturday 1st August 2026.
Mount Snowdon is 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) high above sea level, which makes it both the highest mountain in Wales and the highest in the British Isles south of the Scottish Highlands.

In April, Queenscourt Hospice announced that it will be reducing its in-patient ward from ten to five beds, as it continues to face financial uncertainty.
The news comes just four weeks after the hospice stated that it was being forced to consider reducing the vital services it provides for patients, as it continues to operate with a £2 million deficit.
Sally Bee said: “So, where do I start with this one?
“As many of you know, through Sally Bee Pre-Loved I’ve been working closely with Queenscourt Hospice, and seeing first-hand the incredible work they do for local families.
“You’ll also have seen in the news recently just how much hospices are struggling financially and how desperately they need our support.
“So… I’ve signed up for the Snowdon at Night Challenge on 1st August 2026.

“Yes, that’s right. I’m going to walk up Snowdon in the dark.
“Now, I’ve never walked up Snowdon in the daylight, never mind at 1.30am in the morning! But if there’s ever a reason to push myself out of my comfort zone, it’s this.
“I’ve managed to rope Jeff in, along with one of my fellow Slimming World members, and together we’ll be joining a small team taking on this challenge for Queenscourt Hospice.
“The physical challenge will be tough, of course. Walking up a mountain isn’t easy for anyone.
“But if you know me, you’ll know the biggest challenge might actually be the timing! I’m a 5am person, not a midnight person. Usually by 8pm I’m ready for bed and not much use to anyone.
“Yet on 1st August we’ll be meeting at midnight and setting off up the mountain at 1.30am!
“So I’m asking for your support.
“Every penny raised will help Queenscourt continue providing the care, compassion and support that so many local families rely on during the most difficult times of their lives.
“I know times are tough and not everyone can give a lot, but honestly, every pound makes a difference.
“If you’ve ever thought, ‘I couldn’t do that,’ or ‘I don’t have the time, energy or motivation,’ then perhaps you could help by sponsoring those of us who are giving it a go.
“Please support us if you can. You can find the JustGiving link here: Sally Bee is fundraising for Queenscourt Hospice
“Let’s see how much we can raise together for this incredible local charity.
“Thank you so much for your support.”
