Incredible fundraisers from EFT Group in Southport have spent three days cycling from Southport to Edinburgh to raise thousands of pounds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
Finn Postlethwaite and Stewart Meechan were joined by Fin’s dad, Simon, as they conquered the 340km challenge.
Not content with this distance, Finn then went on to complete a full marathon in Edinburgh!
The motivation was a particularly personal one for Finn.
He said: “At 15 years old, I underwent brain tumour surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
“The care and support I received there had a huge impact on my life, and eight years down the line it felt like this was a great opportunity to give back to a charity that does such incredible work for children and families.”
A EFT Group spokesperson said: “An incredible achievement from Finn Postlethwaite and Stewart Meechan at EFT Construction, alongside Finn’s dad Simon.
“Over three gruelling days, they cycled 340km from Southport to Edinburgh, before Finn went on to complete a full marathon — all in support of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, raising an amazing £4,000+ so far.
“What makes this challenge truly special is the story behind it.
“For Finn and his family, Alder Hey is far more than a hospital — it’s the place that delivered life-changing care during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
“This was never just about the miles covered; it was about resilience, gratitude, and giving back to a charity that supports so many children and families when they need it most.
“The determination, strength, and heart shown by all three has been nothing short of inspiring.
“It’s a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when purpose drives you forward.
