Aleksandra Calka, owner of Coco Beauty Clinic in Southport

A qualified beautician who has travelled the world is enjoying helping people from her clinic in Southport.

Aleksandra Calka worked as a beautician on board cruise ships, travelling to places such as China, Thailand and Japan. She used the opportunity of those visits to spend time learning her craft, and learning new techniques and treatments, from experts in other countries.

She has now set up her own business, Coco Beauty Clinic, in Sandon Road in Hillside in Southport, supporting people with a range of treatments.

Aleksandra said: “I enjoyed travelling around the world, I learned so much – although I have not seen all of it yet! I still have a few places I really want to visit on my bucket list! I would love to spend some time in South America and Africa.

“Whilst I was in China and Thailand, I went to different places and was trained by experts there.

“I have since been introducing things I learned over there into my own business.

“I really enjoyed spending time in Asia, especially in China. They use a lot of natural medicine in their hospitals to treat people.

“I loved being in Japan too. Skincare is very important to families there. It is all about the grandmother, the mother, teaching their daughters how to look after their skin.

“Here, we often see teenagers looking at YouTube to get tips and advice, but the problem is that they don’t know what is true and what is not true on there.”

She is very eager for Coco Beauty Clinic to operate as an ethical practice. Alexsandra will only recommend treatments that people truly need.

The professional beauty salon and award winning skin clinic works with clients in Southport, Formby, and across the Liverpool region.

Aleksandra offers an innovative and unique service, ensuring all treatments are performed ina comfortable and sterile environment, using top of the range products and technologies. She offers the latest, medical grade and result driven treatments.

She said: “I am starting to offer laser removal treatment to help people with hair removal, acne, skin rejuvenation and other conditions.

“The equipment arrived last week. I have been waiting for it for the last two months to arrive from Spain. It has been a challenge to transport it across, but I am delighted that it is here with us now.”

Aleksandra likes to be holistic in her assessment and plans, identifying lifestyle changes that can often be important for working alongside other treatments.

She is always available to support people who need her help.

She said: “I love being a beautician, it is a job I take very seriously. But I always want to go a step further.

“I am not just carrying out treatments, I also want to support people as well.

“My clients sometimes call in to enjoy a coffee and a chat. I want to be here for people.

“I am currently studying for a Level 3 in Teaching, as I want to be able to open an Academy soon.

“I want to be able to put my face out there for people.”

Alexsandra is a great writer, who offers her expert advice in a blog on her cocobeautyclinic.com website.

She covers issues such as ‘what happens to your skin in the autumn’, ‘what to include in your autumn skin care’, ‘5 sunscreen tips that make me cringe’, and others.

Alexsandra writes from experience, with an impressive background.

She is a certified Graduate of the University of Physiotherapy in Wroclaw in Poland in the field of Cosmetology and earned a Masters in Management and Marketing at the Gornoslaska University of Economics in Poland.

After graduating, she went to London to take an intensive course in massage and Spa treatments of the leading British brand ELEMIS and French brand La Therapie, as well as a customer service course to start work on cruise ships.

Working on cruise ship Holland America, hundreds of satisfied customers and countless hours of training allowed her to gain international experience and provide customers with the highest quality service.

This work allowed her to combine her two greatest passions – travel and cosmetology. While traveling to distant corners of the world, in her free time, she visited beauty salons and spas to learn treatments from all over the world and then share these experiences with her clients.

In her 10-year career as a cosmetologist, Aleksandra has broadened her experience and skills in the field of laser therapy treatments, body shaping Liporadiology, Mesotherapy and Microneedling, medical peels and combined therapies, spray tanning, eyelash lift and eyelash extensions, 1:1 method, Volume2- 3D and Russian Volume.

Alexsandra regularly participates in beauty exhibitions in London, Manchester, and Poland.

She said: “I am always doing things to try and educate people through my blog, but also through my conversations with people.

“With many people I see, the conditions can be helped not just through treatments, but also by making changes to their lifestyles. That can be through changing their diet, exercising, other things like that which can make a difference, and those are aspects that I can help people with and advise them on.

“People often think that if they have an issue with their skin, then they need medication or treatment to improve it, but it is often lifestyle issues that need to be considered.

“There is a lot more to beauticians than filing nails and doing facials!

“We enjoy taking an holistic approach with the clients that we see.

“I do a lot of work with women and their menopause for example, there are lots of ways I can help people.

“Stress is something else which can really affect people’s skin.”

Aleksandra is currently looking forward to Christmas.

Lots of people have also been doing their Christmas shopping at Coco Beauty Clinic.

Aleksandra said: “When husbands come into our clinic looking to buy something for their wives or partners, we can help them to choose something personal, rather than just taking home a regular £50 voucher.”
