The Hesketh Arms in Churchtown in Southport has donated 2,000 disposable aprons and a quantity of fresh food to the North West Ambulance Service

A pub in Southport has handed over hundreds of aprons and a quantity of fresh food to local paramedics working during the coronavirus crisis.

The generous donation was made by The Hesketh Arms pub in Churchtown to the grateful life-savers.

A spokesman said: “We donated 2,000 blue aprons from the Hesketh Arms to North West Ambulance Service and all our fresh produce for them to distribute between their crews.

“Our Head Chef contacted NWAS, which sent a vehicle to collect all our fresh produce which was donated to all the ambulance crews. We also donated the disposable aprons to protect them from Covid-19.”

The Hesketh Arms, on Botanic Road in Churchtown Village, was among pubs across the UK which were ordered to close last month by the Government as part a range of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus.
