Katie Tracey has been honing her comedy skills and talents on the UK comedy scene for a number of years now and her stage presence has not gone unnoticed as she is widely regarded as one of the best female MC’s in the North West.

Raised in Liverpool, Katie travels to various comedy nights to entertain a range of audiences, impressing them with her cheeky humour, affable manner and her shining ability to make friends with the audience.

In Katie’s first year of stand up comedy, she earned a runner-up spot in the prestigious Funny Women Awards in 2012, and has recently been tour support for TV and Radio regular, Arthur Smith.

Katie said: “I can’t wait to perform at the Salt and Tar Comedy Weekender for the first time.

“I only live in Walton so I’ll be able to roll home afterwards!

“It’s fantastic to see them doing something positive with this area.

“I can’t wait to perform there on Friday.

“The whole Comedy Weekender has a brilliant line up. The ticket prices are very well priced too so audiences will be getting great value for money.

“It’s a really diverse programme too, with both the Comedy Weekender and the Salt and Tar Social both happening, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

“I love the idea of Bootle Stands Up opening the festival on Thursday night. Everyone who has been taking part in the comedy workshops before that event will get the chance to perform in front of a proper audience which will be exciting.

“People coming to see my act will be able to enjoy lots of observational stories, some cheeky comedy, it’s universal stuff I talk about. I love finding stupid nonsense!

“I am really glad the Salt and Tar Comedy Weekender is happening in Bootle. I hope it keeps going!

The 2024 Salt and Tar Comedy Weekender will take place from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th May 2024 with tickets from just £5 each for the comedy bonanza.

There is a special twist this year, as a special charity event will kick off the weekend of entertainment. Over the past seven weeks, a group of Sefton residents have been honing their comedy skills at a series of workshops. On opening night, they will have the chance to put their training into action at their first ever stand-up gig. The night, sponsored by Dowhigh, will raise money for local charity Ykids.

Gary Delaney headlines on Friday evening. Delaney, who has appeared on the likes of Live at the Apollo and Mock the Week, is supported by local comedians Katie Tracey and Brennan Reece.

Salt and Tar promises family-friendly fun during the day on Saturday with comedy bingo and the return of Britain’s Got Talent’s Steve Royle. That evening, Bingo Nights UK will bring the party with their ever-popular Disco Bingo.

Family fun returns on the Sunday with John Harding’s Magic Show while Seann Walsh, Hal Cruttenden and Peter Rethinasamy will bring the curtain down in the evening.

Food and drink over the weekend will be provided by Salt and Tar regulars The Bus Yard and Bun & Pickle. While the comedy events are ticketed, the rest of Salt and Tar will remain open from Friday to Sunday at no cost. This includes access to food and drink, as well as live family-friendly entertainment.
