Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group has added to its portfolio with the arrival of the iconic Lu Ban Chinese restaurant in Liverpool. 

MHALG, which operates several venues in Southport including The Grand, The Bold Hotel and Lord Street Hotel, said the addition “reflects the group’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences”. 

Lu Ban, on Stanhope Street in the trendy Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool, offers cuisine inspired by the Chinese region of Tianjin. In China.

The name Lu Ban is associated with invention and creativity and dates back to 504-444 BC when Lu Ban, revered as a Chinese deity, was a master of craft, invention and innovation.

A Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group spokesperson said: 

“We are thrilled to announce from today Lu Ban Liverpool, a renowned establishment specialising in regional Chinese dishes will be operating as part of the Mikhail Hotels and Leisure Group.

“With immediate effect, Lu Ban Restaurant joins our impressive portfolio, adding an exciting dimension to the group’s culinary offerings. 

“The acquisition comes on the heels of Lu Ban Restaurant’s remarkable achievements, including being honoured as the Gold Award winner at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2022. 

“The restaurant’s outstanding culinary expertise was further recognised when it received the prestigious Restaurant of the Year accolade at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.

“We are particularly delighted to welcome renowned Executive Chef Dave Critchley to the team. 

“With his culinary mastery and innovative vision, Critchley played an instrumental role in establishing Lu Ban Restaurant as a gastronomic gem in Liverpool. 

“With the group’s support, the aim is to build upon the restaurant’s previous successes and continue delighting guests with exceptional cuisine and an unparalleled dining experience.”
