The Asda supermarket in Southport is celebrating its 20th birthday!
And leading the celebrations are an incredible 23 members of staff who were working there when the very first customers walked in.
The 24 hour store opened as the anchor store at Central 12 retail park on Derby Road in Southport in 2002.
The land was previously occupied by the Southport Steamport Museum.
Asda Southport Store Manager Iain said: “Having recently joined as store manager it has been a privilege to work with our wonderful colleagues here.
“Over the last 20 years we have formed a bond with our local community, supporting a number of local charities in our area to help bring brighter living within everyone’s reach.”
Local customers were delighted to add their congratulations.
Speaking on the Asda Southport Facebook page, Dee Wright said: “Happy Anniversary Asda and well done to the colleagues! A fantastic achievement of long service.”
Jax Shears said: “Happy birthday Asda…. Love going into Asda … Staff are brilliant.”
Alison Mitchell said: “Happy birthday Asda Southport. I joined after being made redundant twice in 12 months. I worked for eight years until I had to leave due to medical issues.
“Six years later and I have happy memories of working with colleagues who are still my friends.”
Rosemary Bailey said: “Must be a happy store to work in for people to stay so long. Well done, happy birthday.”
