People are being urged to show their generosity and help fund the funeral of a young Southport man who died tragically this week.

Samuel Latham, aged 32, was sadly found dead at Southport Pier at around 8.40am on Monday (24th October 2022).

A JustGiving page has been set up to support his funeral costs – people can donate using the link here

Samuel, a former KGV student from Southport, is remembered lovingly as a “big friendly giant” with a “heart of gold”.

The JustGiving page was set up by Jennifer Conroy, who wrote: “Samuel always managed to have a cheeky grin on his face.

“I had the absolute pleasure of working a couple of years with Sam in Birch Abbey, and he always managed to make everybody laugh in one way or other!

“I remember Sam as being strong and harmless with a heart of gold and a cheeky sense of humour. Sam had a big booming laugh and although he had some demons he was a big friendly giant.

“Sam had lots of acquaintances, work colleagues (past and present) and friends.

“He was often seen dressed up doing karaoke in the local bar, or recording YouTube Videos of him singing. Samuel had a lot of talent, ability and a flair for life.

“This news has shocked and saddened Sam’s poor family – nobody should have to plan their son’s funeral.

“I’m crying as I write this, but with Sam’s Mums permission: I’m setting this up to seek absolutely ANY financial help towards the funeral. Sharon is now expected to find thousands of pounds and any help at all- whether it’s 50p or £50, will make a massive difference.

“I know money will not bring Sam back, nor change what’s happened, but hopefully we can make this heartbreaking process SOMEWHAT less destructive.”
