The Allotment unit in Southport Market is saying farewell to diners this week.

The venue has become famous for its “warm welcomes and fresh food”, with a nourishing menu consisting of low and slow foods, with burgers, loaded fries, small plates, hearty burgers, tasty hot dogs and great steaks.

It was one of the original businesses which opened inside the new-look Southport Market two and a half years ago, following its £1.4 million transformation into an exciting new food, drink and events venue.

Customers are being asked to look out for “something exciting coming very soon”.

A Southport Market spokesperson said: “This week marks the last week we have with Allotment.after an amazing two years!

“Allotment has been with us since day 1 serving up juicy burgers, loaded fries and delicious hot dogs and this week until Sunday marks the final chance to get your fix before they vacate Unit 10.

“Keep your eyes peeled for something exciting coming very soon.”

Writing on the market’s Facebook page, David Ashcroft said: “Indian street food / Caribbean Soul / Creole would all be a decent addition.”

The Plant Room said: “I’m sure they will be sorely missed and hopefully replaced with something equally tasty.”

Emma Gilbert said: “Nooooooooooooo our favourite! What are we going to eat now? Genuinely gutted.”

Southport Market celebrated its second birthday in July after a record breaking year of success.

Nearly half a million meals and drinks were served to thousands of people who have visited the popular food market in Southport town centre in the previous twelve months.

An astounding 422,300 dishes, including 30,000 burgers and 45,000 pizzas, were sold at the King Street venue as staff and traders worked tirelessly to keep up with demand.

This year saw the addition of Southport Market’s Extravaganza space hosting a huge array of private hire events as well as sell-out experiences and shows, with more exciting events planned this autumn and this Christmas.
