Eager young dancers can now apply for grants to support their passion through Alice’s WonderDance Foundation.

The Foundation was inspired  in memory by the Aguiar family in Southport in memory of their beloved daughter, Alice, with the aim of giving more children the chance to experience the joy and freedom of dance.

Alice’s WonderDance Foundation said:

“Inspired by Alice’s magic and her love for dance, we’re so excited to share that our grant application link for individuals is now live on the Community Foundation Merseyside website.

“This is happening because of you, your support, your belief in us, and our incredible community that have encouraged us since the beginning.

“Thanks to you, we can now support young dancers with anything needed, from a pair of shoes to university fees, all related to dance. We know how challenging it can be these days to cover extra activity costs, and that’s why we’re committed to creating opportunities and inclusion, just as Alice would do for anyone.

“We also want to say a heartfelt thank you to Community Foundation Merseyside for all their support throughout this entire process. For their time, their guidance, their belief in this project, and their volunteer efforts in helping make this happen.

“From day one, they listened to our wishes with hope and encouragement, and now our vision is a reality. Thank you for your partnership in this special and lasting project for Alice’s legacy.

“Community Foundation Merseyside will oversee the application review and ensure the fair, transparent distribution of funds.

“Please take a moment to read about our mission and help us spread the word. The more people who know, the more dancers we can support. Together, we are strong.

“The link for organisations and groups to apply for grants will be available soon.

“Thank you to everyone who believes in us.”

Alice’s WonderDance is a foundation created and inspired by the name of Alice Da Silva Aguiar who the family tragically lost in summer 2024 in the Southport tragedy. Since that day nothing has returned or will ever be the same again.

Alice’s family has since moved forward with purpose, spreading the same energy and love that Alice brought to every space she danced in.

They said: “We believe dance is more than movement, it’s freedom, creativity, connection, and joy. Our work removes barriers so that every child can access dance, explore their passion, and grow through movement in a safe, empowering space.”

Alice’s dad , Sergio,is currently half way through his incredible challenge: running all 6 Major World Marathons in Alice’s memory.

All funds raised will go directly to Alice’s WonderDance Foundation, delivered in partnership with the Community Foundation Lancashire and Merseyside. This ensures that every donation is securely and clearly managed and used effectively to support dance programs, resources, and community events that reach those who need it most.
