NHS staff at Southport Hospital were treated to a very special Chinese banquet as a way of thanking them for their work caring for patients during the Coronavirus crisis.
It was the first in a new Southport Superhero Sunday initiative by the Lings On Kings Chinese restaurant in the town.
Local people are now being asked where they should visit next.
Lings On Kings owner Ling Lam said: “Southport Superhero Sunday will see one of our local superheroes treated to a free meal on us every Sunday!
“This week we visited Southport Hospital for our local heroes in the Intensive Care Unit.

“We would love to say a big thank you to our NHS who fight for lives everyday.
“Who should we visit next week?
“Southport Police ? Southport Fire Station? Other local heroes?
“Lings On Kings restaurant on King Street is still open for takeaways during these hard times. We are still here to cheer you up! People can order through Just Eat.”
Ling explained how the idea for the special deliveries first came about.
She said: “We have created Southport Superhero Sunday to show the appreciation needed to those who give us so much support.
“Stuart, our manager, works with Southport Hesketh Round Table, and loves helping the community. He brought this idea to me and I thought it was great!

“We visited Southport Hospital with myself and Stuart to drop off the 18-people banquet for the staff at the Intensive Care Unit at Southport Hospital as we feel that the support they give to the community at all times need more appreciation.
“The response from the hospital was overwhelming. The staff were all very polite and very appreciative.
“They really enjoyed starting our Southport Superhero Sunday! Now we can’t wait for this Sunday.”
Lings on Kings is based on King Street in Southport and serves authentic Chinese dishes, all freshly cooked.
Owner Ling Lam has 29 years experience as a restaurateur and is also a singing sensation, often performing for her customers during their meal.
