A champion fundraiser for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool is putting on his dancing shoes for a 24-hour Danceathon!

Theo Graham, from Formby, was born at Alder Hey 10 weeks prematurely.

The 10-year-old has been a patient of Alder Hey from three months old and is still a patient there today.

He has been shortlisted for a Child Of Courage Award, sponsored by Southport Pleasureland, in the 2023 Pride Of Sefton Awards.

Since then Theo and his family have fundraised for Ormskirk Neonatal Unit by doing various events, raising enough money for a transport incubator.

The Children’s Charity at Alder Hey has given Theo a wonderful role this year as a Young Ambassador for his commitment and dedication to his fundraising.

He is currently raising money for the Surgical Neonatal Unit at Alder Hey, which will offer 22 neonatal cots and 18 individual family rooms so parents can be alongside their poorly newborns whilst they’re receiving expert care, the first of its kind in the UK.

He is also raising funds for his primary school in Formby.

Theo’s Mum, Emma Graham, said: “On Saturday 20th May Theo is doing a 24 hour Danceathon to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity Neonatal Appeal and also for Trinity St Peter’s C of E Primary School for new books and outdoor equipment. The money raised will be split equally between the two.

“He will start at 9am on Saturday 20th May and finish at 9am on Sunday 21st May.

“During this time he will be joined by friends, teachers and even the vicar who have all booked their time slots!

“This is taking place in the Bier House at St Peter’s Church, Formby.

“Please feel free to come along and show your support. There will be refreshments available to buy on the day.

“This is going to be a huge challenge for him to not only stay awake and move for 24 hours but to not have any gaming devices in hand!

“He would love it if as many people could sponsor him as possible, his fundraising link is attached below
