The King's Award for Voluntary Service

Ainsdale Civic Society and Birkdale Community Hub in Southport are among sixteen Merseyside voluntary groups which are being awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

They are:

Knowsley:

Breast Mates Cancer Support

The Eco Therapy Garden CIC

St. Helens:

Portico Vine ARLFC

Valley Brass (Haydock)

Liverpool:

Hoby UK

Merseyside Children’s Holiday Fund

Merseyside Domestic Violence Service Ltd

Samaritans Liverpool and Merseyside

Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside Mark Blundell said: “This is an outstanding number from the 281 awarded across the United Kingdom. 

“Equivalent to an MBE, the King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK and is awarded for life.

“My congratulations to all of these tremendous organisations whose volunteers consistently go above and beyond to help others in their local area.  They are an example to us all!”
