Adam Mackin is dancing Strictly in Southport for Queenscourt Hospice

The youngest dancer in this year’s Strictly event for Queenscourt Hospice will be moonlighting in order to take part!

For the past two years Adam Mackin, 20, has been working alongside older brother, Scott Mackin, owner of Moonlight Events, to provide all the sound and lighting needed for this eye-catching evening.

This Saturday however (Saturday 15th November 2025) Adam will be the one in the spotlight, as he dances the quickstep with dance partner Megan Hosker.

The two have been practising hard ready for their big moment, as they seek to raise awareness and funding for our local hospice.

Adam said: “We have been working on the routine, which includes a couple of lifts in it.

“As long as I don’t mess them up, the dance should be pretty good!

“Hopefully the evening will be a great fundraiser for Queenscourt Hospice, which deserves all the support it can get.

“I don’t have any dance background at all, so all this is very new to me.

“Moonlight Events has been providing all the sound and lighting for Strictly over the past couple of years, so I have been there working alongside my brother, Scott.

“Last year, Queenscourt Fundraising Manager Liz Hartley asked Scott if he fancied dancing in Strictly.

“He told her ‘no chance’ I’ve got two left feet – but my brother, Adam, might do it if you ask him!’

“I agreed on the night, and thought ‘why not’?

“Then I forgot all about it – until I got a phone call a few months later about starting dance lessons!

“I have been enjoying it all though. I would like to think I’ve taken well to it, but I’ll find out on Saturday – I hope it goes well!”

Adam is a busy person. As well as doing work for Moonlight Events, which continues to go from strength to strength, he runs his own business, buying and transforming derelict properties and converting them into good quality new homes.

He is also in his final year studying an Open University degree in Accounting and Finance.

Strictly is taking up a lot of his time too, with his regular dance sessions and the fundraising involved – but it’s worth every minute.

Adam said: “Queenscourt Hospice is really close to my heart. It’s a superb local charity and does an amazing job to help families.

“It’s a hospice which is right on our doorstep, which is very much needed in our community.

“I know many friends whose relatives have been cared for by Queenscourt, either in the hospice or via Queenscourt At Home.

“The Dad of one of my best friends from high school was sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer and was cared for at Queenscourt.

“I have seen what they do to care for people over the years and it’s a privilege to be able to support them. What they do is amazing.

“I am very thankful for everyone who has taken the time to donate to my fundraising appeal so far.”

Strictly Queenscourt returns for its third dazzling year on Saturday 15th November 2025.

After two unforgettable sell-out events, the event is back with even more sparkle, sequins, and show-stopping moves!
