Two partners at Financial Planning Corporation in Ainsdale Village in Southport are looking forward to taking part in Race for a Reason this November.
Moira O’Shaughnessy, Managing Partner at FPC, and Bernice Blundell, Partner at FPC, will be taking on the three-day, 650-mile challenge 14-16th November 2025 to raise as much money as they can for the amazing Alfie’s Squad, a charity providing peer support for children, young people, and families who have been bereaved by suicide.
Moira is determined to support the event because after tragically losing her own brother to suicide.
A Financial Planning Corporation spokesperson said: “Some challenges in life you choose. Others choose you.
“Next month, our very own Moira O’Shaughnessy and Bernice Blundell are taking part in Race for a Reason in support of Alfie’s Squad, a charity providing peer support for children, young people, and families bereaved by suicide.
“For Moira, this cause runs deep. She lost her brother to suicide in 2002 and remembers the struggle to find the right support for herself, and for her two young daughters at the time.
“Taking part in this challenge is her way of giving back, helping others find the understanding and connection that weren’t always there for her family.
“By her side is Bernice, whose energy and drive seem limitless – she’s a prolific marathon and ultra-distance runner who somehow makes pushing beyond your limits look effortless.
“We don’t yet know what the challenge will involve – that’s all part of the mystery! – but we do know they’ll face it with courage, humour, and heart.

Alfie’s Squad is a Sefton-based charity which runs the only peer support groups for children bereaved by suicide in the whole of the UK.
Alfie’s Squad supports children aged 6-18, as well as young adults aged between 18-25, and also parents and carers.
