A ground-breaking new kitchen company based in Southport is celebrating after being shortlisted to be the very best in the UK.
Birkdale Kitchen Co. is now eyeing the title of being the best in Britain after being shortlisted for ‘Kitchen Showroom of the Year’ in the annual kbbreview Retail & Design Awards 2022, alongside finalists from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeenshire.
The firm, which opened on April 12th 2021 offering high quality kitchens, has also been shortlisted for ‘New Kitchen Retailer of the Year’ alongside two firms from Surrey and one from Hertfordshire.
The finalists have just been unveiled having had many submissions across the country.
The awards are now in their 28th year, making them the biggest and longest-running awards in the industry.
All the retailers will be visited in person by judges so they can see the businesses for themselves up close.
Birkdale Kitchen Co. is owned by Neil Gokcen, who has a background in technology, and Stephen Dunne, who has over 35 years experience designing kitchens.
The two have combined to design a truly eye-catching kitchen showroom, in the former Laura Ashley building at the heart of Birkdale Village. They combine top quality kitchen design with the very latest technology to create award winning kitchens which have everything for modern living.
Neil Gokcen said: “As a brand new business and showroom, our idea evolved due to what we saw as a gap in the market geographically for a high end showroom. The ambition was to create both a ‘destination’ showroom and one we wanted to challenge to be the best in the North West and beyond.

“There are around 3,000 independent kitchen businesses across the UK, which shows the competition we were up against.
“In the Kitchen Showroom of the Year Award, we were the only business shortlisted from the whole of England, with the others shortlisted all in Scotland.
“For the New Kitchen Retailer of the Year Award, we were the only venue recognised outside of the south east of England.

The showroom has features including a ‘Connected Room’ which is a standalone room within the showroom itself, secret doors into the utility area and a working kitchen showing a Quooker Cube plus venting hob and a Kaelo wine cooler.
The firm’s specialist design team helps customers to create their dream kitchen, no matter their space or budget.
A full design service provides clients with a full 3D image of how their new kitchen or new space will appear.
The showroom focuses mainly on German-made Leicht kitchens and British Symphony kitchens, due to their superior quality. Other well-known brands offered include: Neff, Siemens, Blanco, Caeserstone, Cosentino, Corian Solid Surfaces, Dekton, 1810, Quooker, Sensa by Constantino and Silestone.
